Succession’s Kieran Culkin may be a part of one of the most highly documented dysfunctional families in Hollywood, but in his private life, he and wife Jazz Charton seem to be living a very happy life together. The couple always appears to be having the best time on every red carpet they walk, and they frequently post encouragement and gentle teasing on social media.
For example, in 2021, Culkin appeared on Saturday Night Live and got a message of support from Charton on Instagram.
“Proud would be an understatement. So lucky to see this impressive man achieve his dreams—even while our kids deprive me of sleep and just general quality of life,” she wrote. “Going to the after-party was a mistake.”
The couple that plays together, stays together. Here’s everything to know about Jazz Charton and her relationship with Kieran Culkin.

Who is Jazz Charton?
Charton tends to keep her personal life personal, but she is originally from London. She has also mentioned that she was raised by her single mother, a model and artist named Corinne Charton, who goes by the name Coco.
Coco is a model and artist who posts frequently on Instagram with old photos from modeling or her current projects. She has also shared photos of Culkin and Charton together that she apparently took herself.
Charton moved to New York City in 2010 to work in an ad agency’s music department, according to an interview Culkin did in 2021 with The Hollywood Reporter. In a post from 2021, she wrote, “11 years ago today I left London for NYC for what was supposed to be a 3 month trip… 2 babies deep now so I guess I’m staying.”
How did Culkin and Charton meet?
Culkin told The Hollywood Reporter that they simply bumped into one another at a bar in New York in 2012.
“I said, ‘I’m Kieran. You have an English accent. What’s your name?’” he said. “She said, ‘Jazz.’ I said, ‘J-A-Z-Z, like the music?’ And she said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s fucking stupid.’”
In a 2018 interview with iNews, he described meeting her as well, saying she was the “most beautiful girl” who happened to be there with another man. When the man left for the bathroom, he approached her.
“I asked if he was her boyfriend, and when she said ‘no,’ I asked if I could be her boyfriend. We’ve been together ever since,” Culkin said. “When someone is as beautiful as my wife, you just want to be close to that.”
How long have they been together?
They started dating shortly after the 2012 bar run-in and got married in 2013. According to an anniversary post from Charton in 2017, they got married spur of the moment while on a six-week trip that kept getting extended.
“7 years ago we went on what was supposed to be a 6-week road trip but ended up taking 3 1/2 months,” she wrote in the caption of an old wedding photo. “7 years ago we fell in love with Iowa. 7 years ago we met a girl named Kinsey who helped us get our marriage license and 7 years ago today we said I do in the rain with 3 strangers. Whose genius idea was it to have Father’s Day right before our anniversary? One gift counts for both right?”
Do Charton and Culkin have children?
In his 2018 interview with iNews, Culkin sounded very skeptical about kids.
“It just seems like a lot to take on. I suppose if she gets pregnant, that would be fine, but it’s really not on our horizon,” he said. “Not one of us [siblings] have started our own family. My mother is one of 11 kids, and she had seven kids, and she has no grandchildren, so think about that?”
A lot has changed since then. Not only is Culkin an uncle (to brother Macaulay Culkin and his wife Brenda Song’s two kids), he’s also a father of two himself.
In 2019, Charton announced they were expecting their first child, writing over a photo of a sonogram, “My favourite surprise so far. We had no idea how much we wanted this until it happened. We’re excited/terrified/ecstatic/unprepared but we cannot wait to meet our little unexpected creation in September.”
Kinsey Sioux was born that fall, and two years later, they welcomed their second child, a son named Wilder Wolf.
In 2021, Culkin was interviewed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and admitted it took them seven weeks to pick a name for their son.
“My wife wanted Wolf. She was fighting hard for Wolf,” Culkin shared. “We found [the name] in the hospital the day that he was born, and we thought, ‘That’s great.’ But instead of pulling the trigger on it, [we thought], ‘Let’s torture ourselves for about seven weeks,’ disagreeing with names before we come around to the name that we picked. ’Cause we didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl.”
They decided to work on making a decision just before Charton gave birth.
“So, she’s in bed and we have a dry erase board so we can go over every name we thought of. And we were like, ‘Let’s focus on girl names because we really like these,’” he explained. “We narrowed it down to two girl names that we really liked, and we agreed it was going to be one of those two names if it’s a girl, and if it’s a boy we’re screwed. And we had a boy and spent seven weeks arguing about names.”
In 2023, Culkin shared with director Taika Waititi for Interview how he struggles with being away from his kids to work and how much Charton does to make that possible. He admitted it took a while to figure out what good parenting really is for them both.
“One thing that was really key for us was, in the first six, seven, or eight months of us being parents, it was just this haze of, ‘What the fuck are we doing?’” he joked. “And then we started going to this playground, and that helped us meet a lot of really good parents. Then it really stands out when you see a shit parent. It’s like, ‘Oh, you took some effort here to really not be around your kids or give a shit.’”
In January 2024, Culkin took home an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and during his acceptance speech he joked about wanting more kids.
“And of course my beautiful wife Jazz, thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids...I love you so many and so much,” he said. “And Jazz, I want more.” Charton laughed from the audience, and Culkin added, “You said maybe if I win. I love you so much.”
Then, in February 2025, when Culkin won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, he again mentioned wanting more kids. “About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly publicly said I want a third kid from [Charton] because she said if I won the award, she would ‘give me’ the kid,” he said toward the end of his acceptance speech. “Turns out, she said that because she didn’t think I was going to win. And people came up to her and were like, y’know—really annoying her. I think it got to her, but anyway. After the show, we’re walking through the parking lot; she’s holding the Emmy; we’re trying to find our car...She goes, ‘Oh God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid.’ And I turned to her and I said, ‘Really, I want four.’ And she turned to me—I swear to God this happened; it was just over a year ago—and she said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar.’ I held my hand out; she shook it. And I have not brought it up once until just now. You remember that, honey, you do?”
In the crowd, Charton, laughing, nodded.
He finished, “Then I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith: ‘No pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry I did this again. And let’s get crackin’ on those kids, what do you say?’”
The couple was photographed kissing after he won his award:
Was Charton serious when she promised Culkin she’d have a fourth child if he won an Oscar?
Charton suggested on Instagram that she wasn’t serious about having two more kids if he won an Oscar. She posted on March 4, two days after the Academy Awards, “AN OSCAR?!!!! Okay okay hear me out—making empty baby pacts may seem foolish but it’s clearly been a great motivator. Would he have come this far if I hadn’t kept promising him more kids if he won awards?….. Probably. But who’s to say?…”
Charton posted about her husband after he won special recognition at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2025.
In her Instagram Stories on January 4, Charton shared a clip of Culkin’s speech after he received the Breakthrough Performance Award for A Real Pain. In his speech, the actor joked about finally “breaking through” after a career that began in his childhood.
Charton paid tribute to Culkin after his 2025 Golden Globes win.
On January 7, Charton shared photos of her and Culkin from the Golden Globes on Instagram to celebrate Culkin’s Best Supporting Actor win for his role in A Real Pain.
She gave him an adoring tribute, sharing in her caption, “Okay come on this is getting ridiculous now. I’m so proud of this wonderful manic man. What a dream to watch this all happen to one of the most hardworking but also somehow the least ambitious person I’ve ever known. Beautiful. And where in the ‘we had a kid’s party the day before and hadn’t fully recovered’ would we be without our team of magicians?! Still covered in goldfish crackers and overstimulated tears probably. Huge thank you to @chloehartstein for styling us in @celine, @gismondi1754, @tiffanyandco, and @omega, @benjaminthigpen for Kieran’s grooming, AND @jennanicoleofficial and @claraleopard for making me feel prettier than I ever have before ♥️”
Charton revealed the unusual place Culkin proposed to her in a March 2025 interview.
In a March 23 interview with The Sunday Times, Charton told the story of Culkin’s proposal to her. “We were about to go on a road trip to California, so we were having a going-away party with our friends before we left,” she shared. “Kieran said, ‘Wait, come outside, I want to tell you something.’ And he got down between two dumpsters and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ I was, like, ‘Really, here? I mean, yes, obviously, but really?’”
She shared how she knew Culkin was the one prior to that moment: “I know Kieran comes across as this quirky guy but he’s actually really sensible. That was one of the ways I knew he was the right person.”
Charton shared how she felt about Culkin’s Oscar speech about her promising him another kid if he won.
Charton told The Times that she isn’t actually committed to having two more kids after Culkin spoke about her promising to do so in his Oscar acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor.
When asked how she felt about the speech, she said, “It makes my uterus become public, you know? So many people said, ‘So when are you going to have this baby?’ And I was, like, ‘Well now, never!’”
She did speak about why she had a second child, however, as she had been an only child herself. “Kieran was away and it all triggered something in me,” she said. “It reminded me so much of my childhood and I never felt more alone. I said to Kieran, ‘I need to have another baby to break this cycle.’ And now my kids are best friends and I’m so happy I could give that to them.”
She said the couple made the most of their six years before becoming parents, too: “We just really enjoyed our free time—and obviously that’s all gone now.”
