Blackpink’s Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa are all releasing solo albums, but not one member was out at the Grammys tonight. Their absence at the Grammys is completely understandable, though: The group has been taking time apart, and none of the members are performing or have nominations this year. In fact, even before their break, the girls had never been to the prestigious American music ceremony or nominated.
The 2025 Grammys eligibility period is for music released from Sept. 16, 2023, through Aug. 30, 2024. Technically, Lisa’s singles “Rockstar” and “New Woman” fall within that period as they came out on June 27 and August 15, respectively. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that she even submitted them for the Grammys, but they did not get nominated.
Next year’s Grammys could be very different, though. Not only will all four members’ solo albums be out by then (and well within the 2026 show’s eligibility period), but Blackpink is due to reunite later this year. They could have new joint work as well that can be submitted for awards.
Lisa spoke to ELLE in our September issue about how excited she is to work with Jisoo, Rosé, and Jennie again. “Of course we’re continuing [as a group], for sure,” Lisa said. “We’re so proud of Blackpink, and I love Blackpink. It is not just because of our fans, it’s for ourselves.” She then said in Korean, “There was no doubt. This is our life.”
In January, Jennie spoke about how Blackpink had changed in their time apart. They talked regularly in their group chat: “We are all so caught up with life,” she told Billboard. “Obviously, we can’t be calling each other every day. Even though we know we can’t see each other so much, it doesn’t really feel any different than all the other years because we know we’re here for each other. They’re literally a phone call away. And at this point, we respect each other’s space so much. So if there’s anything to be happy for, to celebrate, we’re all in it together.”
“I’ve missed the girls,” she added. “I’ve missed doing tours with them. I miss our silly moments. I’m excited to see what everyone brings. You know, everyone took their own journey [during] this time, and I’m excited to share that with the girls. I want to say it’s going to be the most powerful [versions] of ourselves that anyone has seen.”
