George and Amal Clooney have been based in New York City during his Broadway run in Good Night, and Good Luck. But despite being in town, the couple were absent from tonight’s Met Gala—a choice likely influenced by George’s Tuesday night performance schedule.
The Clooneys last attended the Met Gala in 2018. They made their debut as a couple in 2015:
George and Amal Clooney, who celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in September, continue to set the bar for enduring Hollywood relationships. In a recent interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King, the actor shared a striking detail about their marriage: “Amal and I, we were here with you once before, and we said we’ve never had an argument,” he said. “And we still haven’t. We’re trying to find something to fight about. I think because I started so late with Amal—[when I was 52].”
“I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman, and I feel as if I hit the jackpot,” he added. “There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think I’m the luckiest man in the world. So it’s great.”
He also shared that their 7-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, are thriving in New York City, embracing the energy while the family temporarily calls it home during his Broadway run. The kids have “got a school that they like and are having fun at,” he revealed. “You know, Amal and I are having a really great time in life. Well, our kids are 7, about to be 8, which is a pretty great age. They’re really curious and funny. And every parent thinks their kids are great, and our kids are funny. They make us laugh.”
