Throughout her decades in the spotlight, Angelina Jolie has never attended the Met Gala. Those hoping for the actress’s highly anticipated debut will have to wait at least another year. As the red carpet wrapped up, Jolie was noticeably absent.
Jolie was last spotted with her son Knox in Los Angeles on Thursday. While she has her Atelier Jolie art center in New York City, she and her family are primarily based in California.
That will change once her children grow up. In November 2019, Jolie spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about where she’d like to live in the future. “I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,” she wrote in her email interview. “Right now I’m having to base where their father, [Brad Pitt], chooses to live.” Knox and Vivienne, Jolie’s youngest children, will both turn 18 in July 2026.
“My favorite place is somewhere I’ve never been,” she told the outlet, noting the family has houses abroad. “I like to be dropped into the middle of something new. I enjoy being out of my element. I want the children to grow up in the world—not just learning about it but living it and having friends around the world.”
In November 2024, Jolie spoke about how much her kids Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne mean to her. Motherhood is “my happiness,” she told Good Morning America. “You can take everything else away from me. Nothing else matters.”
