As her stylist, Law Roach, promised in April, Zendaya did do the Met Gala a little differently this year. She stepped out in an all-white suit and matching wide-brim hat, perhaps giving us a sneak peek at her unique bridal style.
As usual, she posed on her own. Her fiancé, Tom Holland, wasn’t seen with her as she walked up the Met steps. But he was in New York City. E! ran a photo of Holland arriving at the Surrey hotel, where Zendaya got ready, in an orange baseball cap, striped top, and a dark denim jacket and pants.
Holland has never attended the Met Gala, but his choice not to go yesterday wasn’t surprising. As Holland explained to Men’s Health at the beginning of the year, he won’t pose on the red carpet at Zendaya’s events “because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us.” (His fellow Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield made a similar choice last night. He was seen supporting his partner, Monica Barbaro, in New York City, meeting her after the Met Gala rather than going himself.)
Holland and Zendaya will have some red carpets together in the future. They are starring in two projects together that are shooting this year: The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Given their busy schedules, they are not about to have a wedding anytime soon. Roach told E! last month that “of course” he’ll be involved with Zendaya’s wedding wardrobe, but “it’s far away. They’re both doing a bunch of movies this year, and there’s a lot of premieres next year, so you’ll see a lot of red carpets. I’m resting up for 2026.”
Zendaya revealed her engagement at this year’s Golden Globes. Multiple sources shared that Holland proposed during the holidays.
