Alicia Keys knows how to push style boundaries. Her last appearance at the Met Gala was in 2022, for the theme “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” leaving fans eagerly awaiting her return. This year, the Grammy-winning artist made a striking comeback, commanding the red carpet in a bold red pinstriped suit—elegant at first glance, but with a subtle, unexpected twist.
Designed by Moncler in partnership with EE72 by Edward Enninful, the finely tailored wool-silk suit featured a sculpted bustier and an off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline, paired with a custom beaded headpiece that added a regal touch reminiscent of Grace Jones. Draped over her shoulders was an oversized red-and-black pinstriped puffer shawl that fused classic sartorial craftsmanship with Moncler’s signature outerwear aesthetic. The look was directly inspired by the Moncler x EE72 collaborative collection first unveiled at the brand’s City of Genius event in Shanghai last fall.
For glam, Keys’s longtime makeup artist, Dotti, aimed to strike a balance between radiance and quiet intensity. “I created a cat-eye through the lashes to capture that quietly powerful, feminine feeling,” Dotti tells ELLE. “There’s a deep navy liner tracing close to the lash line, with a whisper of the same color brushed onto the lashes. It’s a subtle nod to Mr. Dean’s [Swiss Beatz’s] suit—a detail that adds a sense of timeless sophistication.”
Keys was joined on the red carpet by her husband, Kasseem Dean, a.k.a. Swizz Beatz, who complemented her look in a dandy-inspired Moncler suit that mirrored the pinstripes of her puffer shawl. Adding a distinctive personal touch, his ensemble was topped off with a custom Swarovski-trimmed durag designed by Jamaican-American creative Paul Richards. The couple was part of a standout Moncler contingent at the event, which also included Serena Williams, model Vittoria Ceretti, former NFL quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick, and his longtime girlfriend, Nessa Diab.
