The Best Looks from London Fashion Week Day 2

Let's begin with Richard Quinn, the fantastical designer who's dressed J.Lo and Kendall Jenner for recent red carpets. This season, he supplemented his signature latex-and-daffodil dresses with Elizabethan chain mail frocks.

Plus a plop! of hot pink silk. This gown was tied together with a satin rose, and buttressed with the attitude of, "More is more, didn't you know?" To her credit, the model did know, and she burst out laughing halfway down the catwalk which honestly sold the whole look.

The floor of the roses continued at Rixo, where a petaled path was treaded by models including this silver greyhound Toni, which is (of course!) short for Marie Antoinette.

The best buds continued at Dilara Findikoglu, the Turkish designer who accents her witchy sensibilities with serious textile craftsmanship, often from artisans native to her home country. Here's her interpretation of a rose trellis.

And her take on Ophelia's primrose path. (It didn't go too well for the Shakespearean character, but the model's doing great.) We love how this dress comes apart at the seams, hinting at an inner life beyond the outer garments.

The catwalk was graced with an actual cat, a nod to both the designer's occult inspirations and the need to make everything cuter on Instagram.

Speaking of Instagram, you've likely seen Molly Goddard's tulle dresses on influencer feeds as well as on Killing Eve's Jodi Comer. But while this Beauty and the Beast gown is certainly fun, it's not necessarily evolving the buzzy designer's point-0f-view.

What might, however, is her tiptoe into tailored suiting, which harnesses her considerable technical skills without making another (literal) puff piece. And the knit bow beanies are a smart take on street style bait. (Dibs on the pink one!)

There was also some cool '90s layering at play, with Kate Moss's signature slip-dress-over-shredded-cashmere transforming into something less about sex and apathy, and more about the blurred memories of girlhood.

Yasuko Furuta made some think pieces at Toga, including plastic puff capes and parachute pleat skirts that could have been made from swim floaties.

The puffy sandals were also inflatable, which is pretty practical if sea levels keep rising.

So is this spectacular puffer jacket that doubles as a sleeping bag, a tent, an art exhibit, a beach blanket, and probably a life raft. But if we're carrying our artistic temperaments on our backs like snail shells, how heavy will it be on our hearts?

Special thanks to Fashion Editor Kia Goosby, who opened our eyes to A.W.A.K.E.'s zagging shapes and popping shades. We especially loved the precision in the pleats and hems—a must when your color palette is essentially Skittles laced with Lithium.

This look was a special kind of split personality, combining a quilted bathrobe revamp with back-to-work pants and a bag. As for the Warhol Tomato color, it's a slash of orange-red that will really cut through dreary days.

The Austrian designer showed in London for the very first time this week, and we're into his slice-cut collars and Jedi wrap techniques.

In his artist statement, Petrov says "in my designs, I hope a woman can recognize her own strength, express personal values and feel at one with herself.” But here's the thing...

There's nothing empowering about seeing cool clothes on only one type of woman, especially when the clothes are technically sharp, and so obviously capable of enhancing all types of female frames. Next season, we dare Mr. Petrov to level up and let a more diverse array of women buy into his vision. (And buy his clothes!)

Billie Eilish reigned at Fashion East, where 28-year-old designer Goom Heo reimagined the pop songstress as a finance bro on an alien planet, maybe one where toxic masculinity has finally been sucked into a black hole.
