Let me bring you up to speed. A modular sofa is one that can be added to over time and rearranged into new configurations. It makes for peak investment furniture because it can grow with you and your living space. As such, this style is a hot commodity. If you’re undecided between a modular couch and a sleeper sofa, why not have both rolled into one? Indeed, modular sofa beds do exist...technically.
See, a lot of modular options don’t actually have pull-out beds. Some do! And we’ll get to that, but I have to give the disclaimer that a lot of them do not; yet—trust me—they double as beds nonetheless. A modular style is better suited for use as a sleeping space than a “regular” couch for a few reasons. “The modular components are movable to create the shape and comfort level of a bed without the need for a traditional mattress,” explains Elisabeth Gunshenan, a consultant for Wayfair and Perigold Design Services. In other words, if you don’t have space for a pull-out bed but still want to accommodate guests, you’re better off with a modular style. If you take this route, Gunshenan recommends looking for a model that has two long sections rather than three or four shorter sections, as these are better for stretching out on.
