Shakira attends this year’s Grammys not just as a nominee, but also as a performer. Her set comes just days before she embarks on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which begins on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro. Following “unprecedented” ticket demand, the 2024 U.S. leg of her tour was rescheduled to extend into 2025 and is set to kick off in May.

In an April interview with Allure, Shakira reflected on her tumultuous journey leading up to this album, describing how music helped her heal from recent personal struggles. “I had to reconstruct myself, to reunite all the pieces that had fallen apart,” she said. “The songs are full of anecdotes and some very intense emotions I have experienced in these two years. But creating this album has been a transformation in which I have been reborn as a woman. I have rebuilt myself in the ways I believe are appropriate,” she continued. “No one tells me how to cry or when to cry, no one tells me how to raise my children, no one tells me how I become a better version of myself. I decide that.”

“This process woke up a new sense of autonomy and independence in me, ” Shakira told Rolling Stone in a June interview. She also referred to Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran as, “a testament to survival and strength” in a March 2024 interview with The Latin Times.
