Another semester has already come and gone at Essex College. After a two-year-long wait, the past season of The Sex Lives of College Girls was a big one, filled with tearful exits (we miss you, Renée Rapp), new friends, relationship drama, and even one awkward family weekend on campus.

The girls have been busy: Bela is enjoying life as a resident assistant, is considering revisiting comedy, and just made a major self-discovery; Kimberly is, as usual, trying to impress her teachers and getting into trouble; and Whitney started going to therapy and learned to set boundaries. Even the series’ newbies have us invested in their journeys: Taylor (Mia Rodgers) dealt with difficult crushes and sobriety, while Kacey (Gracie Lawrence) dumped her high school boyfriend and had sex for the first time.

Will the series created by Justin Noble and Mindy Kaling be back for more? The details are slim for now, but we’re rounding up everything we know about a potential fourth season below.

Has The Sex Lives of College Girls been renewed for season 4?

SLOCG is unfortunately canceled at Max, which did not order a fourth season of the comedy, Deadline reported on March 18. There was still hope that the series could find a new streaming home, but the attempts to shop the title around were ultimately unsuccessful.

“We were very much hoping to find a new home for that one, and I think we’ve now come to the end of the road, which is disappointing, because it’s a show that we really love,” Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey told Deadline in an April 11 interview. “I’m so proud of the three seasons that we did at Max but I don’t think there’s going to be more of College Girls.”

Back when the cancelation news broke in March, Warner Bros. Television, which produces the show, searched for a new home for the title. At the time, Netflix was a possibility, as Mindy Kaling has an existing deal (with shows like Never Have I Ever and Running Point) with the streaming, but it’s “believed to be a long-shot new home prospect given the complexities of a potential move,” according to Deadline.

Who would be in the cast?

Since SLOCG won’t be coming back for another season, we can look fondly at our season 3 cast: Pauline Chalamet (Kimberly), Amrit Kaur (Bela), and Alyah Chanelle Scott (Whitney). Though Renée Rapp parted ways with the cast, the show welcomed new cast members Gracie Lawrence (Kacey) and Mia Rodgers (Taylor).

Other favorites included Christopher Meyer (Canan), Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Lila), and Renika Williams (Willow).

What would’ve season 4 been about?

Noble previously shared some ideas following the season 3 finale. He told TheWrap, “Kimberly has the cliffhanger of this season—she thinks that the school is going to sue her for property damage. I’d love to see how that goes down and if Tig Notaro’s character would play into that if she has to come to her aid. We have multiple new love interests that appear in these two episodes at the end of season 3, we have the closing of some doors and different extracurriculars and school things, so there’s a lot of momentum heading into a season 4, and lots of ways we can go. So pending a phone call, Mindy and I and the writers will be at the ready to decide which way to go.”
