The rejoice was audible the world over when it was announced that a Sex And The City sequel was on its way and, upon And Just Like That’s release in 2021, conversations - both positive and some decidedly less so - erupted around its stable of protagonists.

From the titular Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, and her tumultuous relationship with John James Preston, portrayed by Chris Noth (aka 'Big'), to Cynthia Nixon’s character Miranda Hobbes’ sexual awakening, the series has tackled a bevy of lingering questions in its two season run, many of which Sex And The City left unanswered. It's also introduced a trickle of new, but no less fabulous, leading ladies into its midst, with the inimitable Lisa Todd Wexley, played by Nicole Ari Parker, and Dr. Nya Wallace, played by Karen Pittman, among them. The best part is that it’s set to return for a third season too, with our favourite New Yorkers set to reprise their roles once again.

In case you’re missing the gang a little too much and wondering, besides sipping on Cosmpolitans, just what they’ve been up to since AJLT premiered in 2021, we rounded up exactly where they’ve been and what they’ve been doing.

1

Sarah Jessica-Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) In 'And Just Like That'

Any Sex And The City fan worth their salt ought to require little introduction to Sarah Jessica Parker, who has starred as Carrie Bradshaw since the original show's inception in 1998. Alongside her eponymous shoe brand SJP Collection, Parker has also been making her West End debut at the Savoy Theatre in London in an adaptation of Neil Simon's play, Plaza Suite. No stranger to romance, the romantic comedy play also stars Parker's real-life husband, fellow actor Matthew Broderick.

Needless to say, Parker's book obsession has also been keeping her busy in-between shooting AJLT. In 2023, the native New Yorker launched SJP Lit, her own literary imprint from the independent publisher Zando. The first book to be born of Parker's new endeavour was Elysha Chang’s celebrated debut, A Quitter’s Paradise, which intimately explores the relationship between science, scientific minds and relationships.

Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) In 'And Just Like That'

After challenging incumbent Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary to become Governor of New York in 2018, Cynthia Nixon cast her political aspirations aside, and once again reprised her role as Brooklynite Miranda Hobbes.

Nixon, who in her spare time uses her platform to advocate for political causes, has also turned her hand to directing since AJLT's inception in 2021. The Emmy and Tony-winner directed one episode in the SATC sequel's first season and two in its second. In November 2023, Nixon joined five US politicians in a hunger strike to demand that President Joe Biden calls for a permanent ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Kristin Davis (Charlotte York Goldenblatt) In 'And Just Like That'

No stranger to gracing the FROW at fashion weeks across the board - among them Michael Kors, Narciso Rodriguez and Marc Jacobs - Kristin Davis has once again had her name cemented as somewhat of a fashion darling since reprising her role as Charlotte York Goldenblatt. Most recently, the actor graced Jacquemus' front row alongside Julia Roberts at its AW24 show in the South of France.

The actor has also been a patron of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust since 2009 and, in 2014, produced a documentary entitled Gardeners of Eden, which told the story of the dangers facing Africa's elephants.

Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa Todd Wexley) In 'And Just Like That'

Arguably one of the SATC revival's most fashionable new faces, Nicole Ari Parker has proven herself to be just as much of a star off-screen as she is on. Most recently, she played the starring role in an off-Broadway production of The Refuge Plays, which tells the story of one Illinois family over the course of 70 years. She also masterminded the ingenious collection of sweat-resistant sports headbands, Gymwrap, which are sold across America.

Karen Pittman (Dr. Nya Wallace) In 'And Just Like That'

Alongside her starring role in AJLT, Karen Pittman has also portrayed one of the lead characters in Apple TV+'s The Morning Show, which premiered in 2019. In fact, when fans began question why Pittman's role was so reduced in AJLT's second season, the actor confirmed that it was because her schedule was already so packed with shooting dates for The Morning Show, which lead to a reduced role.

6

Sarita Choudhury (Seema Patel) In 'And Just Like That'

Lanvin! Prabal Gurung! Altuzarra! You name the brand, and the chances are that Sarita Choudhury, who plays Carrie's new BFF Seema Patel, has already been tapped by them to either wear their clothes or attend their shows. She most recently gathered with the reunited cast of the 1982 hit film Sophie's Choice to attend a screening of the film in collaboration with one of her favourite labels, Lanvin.

Sara Ramirez (Che Diaz) In 'And Just Like That'

Arguably AJLT's most divisive character, Che Diaz, was depicted by Sara Ramirez, who has recently hinted that they may not be returning for its upcoming third season. Insiders told the Daily Mail that the creators of the show felt Diaz's character was a ‘waste of airtime' because their character ‘held no value anymore’ and was ‘annoying.’ In recent months, Ramirez has used their platform to share their pro-Palestinian stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Chris Noth (John James Preston Or 'Mr. Big) In 'And Just Like That'

After accusations of sexual assault were made against Bradshaw's longtime love interest after the first season of AJLT premiered in 2021, Chris Noth was dropped from the series. When the accusations were made public in December 2021, Universal and CBS made a joint announcement, confirming that Noth – who also played a former CIA director on their show The Equaliser – would no longer be part of filming 'effective immediately'.

In 2023, the actor said that while he ‘strayed’ on his wife, he is not guilty of the assault allegations made against him.

Returning to AJLT as Bradshaw's long-lost love, Aidan Shaw, wasn't the only role John Corbett resumed in recent years. The actor also reprised his role as Ian Miller in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, which he starred in opposite Nia Vardalos (who plays his wife Fotoula 'Toula' Portokalos in the film franchise). In 2023, he also starred in How I Met Your Father, as Hilary Duff's on-screen love interest.
